Importance of fruit and vegetables for public health and food safety

The Primary indicator of an unhealthy diet was mainly due to oversupply of calories, imbalance on macronutrients, excessive salt intake and last but not least, low intake of fresh fruit and vegetable.

Fruits and vegetables were once our main source of food before substituted by all the canned, processed and preservative-added foods.

Low fruits and vegetable intake is among the top 10 risk factors for attributable mortality, caused by cardiovascular disease, cancers and diabetes. It also lead to birth defects (insufficient of folate).

So what is the recommended daily intake of fruit and vegetable?
400grams in total, which equal to 5 servings.
